Story
Staff at Kettering General Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit are launching a £35,000 appeal to buy an additional intensive care incubator.
The George the Giraffe Appeal - named after the type of intensive care incubator they want to buy- will help to improve care for the 450 premature babies who need to use SCBU each year.
The staff on SCBU are dedicated in delivering high end care to the babies they have on the unit, and are a special and caring team - including the non-medical staff. Our 20 days spent on SCBU with Audrey was difficult and an emotional time for us. I personally spent most of those 20 days in tears, staring helplessly into an incubator at our tiny and precious baby girl. We, of course, were very lucky that Audrey didn't require as much medical attention as some babies do, but it certainly doesn't make the experience any easier.
I am launching this 'donate a pound' fund, as £1 from a lot of people can go a long way, and any help towards George the Giraffe, whether that be £50 or £500 will help towards the massive £35,000 needed.
Thanks for reading - and please donate a pound to the fund!
