Story
Recently my wife Annie Ross was a patient in Ward 21 of the Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy after having had a heart attack. Her treatment by medical and support staff was beyond reproach and she was discharged after 8 days with medication and advice designed to aid long life.
However it became apparent to me that this ward which supported at least 8 patients had only one toilet and two commodes for the use of the patients. The nature of the illness that affect the patients in this ward is such that they require to be attached to medical equipment for monitoring purposes. You can imagine the discomfort that some patients experience whilst waiting for staff to bring a commode which may be being used by another patient or staff being busy with the numerous tasks they are expected to do.
It is my hope that with your assistance I may be able to go some way to alleviate the discomfort or indeed embarrassment in the case of accidents brought on by being unable to "wait" by raising sufficient cash to be able to donate commodes so that there may be enough to supply each room with their own. I realise that the commodes provided require to be sturdy and comfortable as well as mobile.
I hope that you agree with me that this situation should not be existing in this day and age and I thank you from the bottom (excuse the pun) of my heart if you can find a few pounds to donate for this cause.
It could be any one of us in this situation in the future.
Thank you.

7 years agoThank you to all who have donated to my appeal. I have passed the target figure but if there is sufficient funds over and above the target I may be able to purchase an additional commode to enable a further room to be equipped. This would mean greater dignity and less embarrassment for the patients. Plus less thing and frying for the nurses and helping to reduce their stress level. Win win all round. If you haven't yet donated there is still plenty time. Thank you.

7 years agoAlmost there. If you haven't yet donated please help me smash the target and help Ward 21 patients avoid the embarrassing question " 2 pee or not 2 pee. That is the question. Thank you.
