Story
On Thursday 28th March and Friday 29th March, Dundee University Boat Club will be attempting to set a WORLD RECORD in the distance rowed over a period of 24 hours by 12 female rowers on a singular indoor rowing machine. Along with the rest of the club taking part in our annual 12 hour Ergathon on Friday 29th 8am-8pm.
Dundee University Boat Club are the University's Sports Union's incumbent Club of the Year and have enjoyed a period of fantastic development and competitive success in the past couple of years. The 12 girls will be doing this world record attempt in order to increase exposure of our women's squad and further fundraising efforts for our chosen female cantered charity, Dundee Women's Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre.
1/3 of the total money raised will be split between the Sports Unions chosen charity this year Feeling Strong and Dundee Women's Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre. Feeling Strong is an exciting new Dundee-based charity with the ambition to improve the lives of young people living with mental health and well-being challenges. Along with the SU we have been supporting this charity throughout the past year and we are excited to give them another donation to help improve young peoples lives.
In accordance with Guinness World Record requirements, our attempt must be verified by independent witnesses who have no affiliation to both our sports club and the University of Dundee.
