Story
Imagine having to run from your home in the middle of the night for safety because your home was beginning to flood. Imagine your roof being flown away by the force of hurricane winds. Imagine cowering in fear inside a cupboard to keep safe from flying debris. Imagine not having basic items such as food, water and clothing. Imagine losing a family member or friend to a natural disaster.
On the 18th September 2017, Dominica was hit by category 5 Hurricane Maria, causing widespread devastation and destruction to homes, infrastructure and the natural land and tragically causing the death of many individuals. Dominica was still recovering from the effects of the 2015 Tropical Storm Erika, however, hurricane Maria has substantially hindered the recovery process.
Dominicans are in dire need of assistance, many losing all their belongings and with no home of their own to turn to and it is essential that aid continues to be provided. I aim to raise as much funds as possible in order to purchase much needed items such as, blankets, non-perishable foods, water and water purification tablets, personal hygiene products, tarpaulins and medical supplies to assist my communities, Dublanc and Bioche . I believe that each individual can help their communities and the island as a whole and I am trying to assist mine.
I implore you to please donate and support this cause as I try to assist my communities and help to restore a sense of normalcy.
**Please Note - as stated above, the funds will be used to assist the Dublanc and Bioche communities. Thank you**
