    Story

Rosie our dog became ill in the early hours of bank holiday Tuesday (27th) being sick. As the morning went on she got worse, we phoned the emergency vets, they initially recommended monitoring her for 24 hours but an hour later she was really poorly so we phoned the vets again and Dennis's auntie (who has a lot of experience with dogs) said get her to the vets straight away. Thank God we did traveling there we were loosing her and got her there in time. The upshot of this Rosie had heomoretic gastroenteritis infection, her glucose level and temp are still fluctuating, she is on antibiotics, had scans & X-rays but they still can't find a definitive cause. It is now possible some stomach bacteria may have gone into her blood which is causing secondary illnesses. A vein in her eye looks like it has ruptured. This is so upsetting and incredibly emotional, hate seeing her so ill, as any pet lover would. Rosie is loved by many, especially the young people we work with at SPICES, Broad Plain & Riverside and Fostering. Somehow we neglected to put her on the same insurance policy as our other dog, it's our fault but friends have told us to set up this account to help with the vet bills, which currently stands at nearly £1600 and set to increase as they think she may need to stay in for another 2 days as the sickness has come back and she isn't eating. There also may be a blockage in her intestines which X-rays have not picked up, which could mean surgery. Rosie is quite small for her breed and has never been this ill before or been away from home without us or our other dog Bruno, she has always been hardy and more of a tom boy that a princess Bichon Frise. We usually ask for help with the club not ourselves but this time if anyone can help we and our dogs would be extremely grateful.

      Update from the Page owner

Thank you so much supporters. Rosie has her eye out on the 8th February, as she is fit again after all the other trauma she experienced and will recover fast if no complications. We really appreciate your donations as this eases the financial burden we face.

Not good news Rosie lovers, she has lost sight in her left eye. Rosie is going to have her eye removed in the near future. We have made this decision with a heavy heart. She is only four years old and will have to face a life time of eye drops and possible eye infections and run the risk of injury to her blind eye. The cost of the operation will be between £800 to £1000 against a possible 10 years of vet fees just for her eye. Although the total hasn't moved we have been given cash donations as well. We appreciate your support thank you.

Well Rosie is getting better slowly. Almost blind in left eye, now working on saving the eye. It looks like the retina has attached itself to the lens, which is an added complication. This will increase the pressure in the eye. We have managed to borrow over £2,000 but this obviously needs to be paid back and Rosie is still having treatment to save the eye but realistically it is a high possibility she will loose it. Trying to be positive we still have our little dog and are thankful for that. Again thank you for your donations.

Rosie is home and on the road to being back to her old self but still not well enough to play with her toys yet. We will know more on Wednesday when she sees the eye specialist about the sight in her left eye. Thank you again those who have donated x
