Story
I am looking to raise £10,900 to be able to go to college to study the required GCSE's to meet the entry requirements of two Universities in the UK. Unfortunately when I was of school age I was unable to access secondary education as I was in the care system and moved to various different placements all over the UK which meant I was unable to stay in any educational placement long enough to study my GCSE's.
When I was 22 I went to University in the North West and managed to secure a place on a Foundation Entry Course in Law whereby I achieved excellent grades. Regardless of my success this was still not good enough to be able to go to University to study a full time law degree as wherever I applied to, all Universities want you to have Maths and English GCSE's.
I have spent the past 12 months attempting to secure access on a GCSE course however there is no funding for Adults and if I want to be able to study Law at one of the better Universities I need to secure the 5 GCSE's required.
I have saved some money but I am conscious that time is moving on and I am now 24 years old. I am appalled at the education system in the UK and I am really concerned that as an adult you can only access equivalent courses such as Functional Skills (which are now more and more not being accepted by Universities).
I am keen to make a success out of my life and experiences (good and bad) but feel no matter how hard I try there is always a brick wall which I tend to come across.
The cost for me to study a full one year GCSE Course in five subjects is £10,900. The money raised will be to pay for me to be able to access these subjects and give me what is required to secure a place at a University
