Every child around the world should be given access to education!
It sounds quite simple, but unfortunately millions of underprivileged children in Egypt lack access to education..

We are hoping to support at least 4 Community Schools in Upper Egypt, in our initial round of fundraising, giving 140 children the opportunity to attend school.

If we reach minimum funds of EUR 3,000, our fundraising will be matched by the EBRD - European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (for up EUR50,000), so the Community Schools will receive EUR2 for every EUR1 raised!

Funds will go to Misr El-Kheir Foundation, a leading NGO in Egypt that works to foster the development of underprivileged communities in the country and offers educational opportunities to disadvantaged children.
The launch of the Community Schools programme in Upper Egypt was initially a partnership between the Egyptian Ministry of Education and UNICEF; the programme was a success but the UNICEF sponsorship ended in 2008, after which Misr El Kheir took it upon itself to manage and expand the community schools. Over the last 8 years, Misr El-Kheir has helped provide 24,500 children access to education throughout 11 governorates in Egypt, also focusing on:
- providing scholarships to the students, and ensuring that every child that has dropped out or never been enrolled in the educational system is given a viable opportunity to gain an education;
- giving teachers proper training in order to ensure that education is of high standards;
- raising awareness and changing the perception of education, and more specifically community education, among the local communities.
