In October I went to Calais to volunteer in the Refugee Community Kitchen, and whilst there, I noticed there were lots of tents ready to be distributed to the refugees. However, the winter was extremely cold and the Refugee Community Kitchen is now running desperately low on tents as they are constantly destroyed or confiscated, leaving the refugees to face the elements without cover in the forest. I was back again volunteering last weekend. The long-term volunteers do a fantastic job there and if you can spare any money to contribute to this worthy cause, it will positively impact many refugees lives. The charity has given me details of a UK charity distributor to buy tents from which deliver them directly from UK to the warehouse. They cost £20 each - so it would be amazing if we could buy at least 10.
