Many of you know I'm running 10miles to raise money for Mind.

Now I've decided to raise money for the unit that has helped save my life on an almost monthly basis, and have listened and empathised and shown me I am my own kind of normal.

After recently diagnosed with a mental health disorder, they put a plan in action, didn't offer empty promises, but offered realistic and practical ways to help me.

Raising money for Mind is still something I'm doing. I am still running 10miles for them. However since the MBU have diagnosed, and supported me in this very turbulent year, I think it's about time I did something. I'm shaving my hair off - on January 1st.

Some of you know, and some of you don't, that I suffered quite severe prenatal depression and anxiety from about 3months into the pregnancy and I still receive help for my health now.

Prenatal and postnatal depression is not only dangerous to the mother, baby and those around them, it is massively misunderstood and a stigma is still sadly attached to any mental health issue regardless if it is heightened by pregnancy or not.

Without the help from Winchester mother and baby unit, Solent mental health teams and various charities, it is unclear whether I would actually be here, and sadly the same for Angus.

The joys of pregnancy were never anything I experienced this time around, and given our family dynamics, dealing with a lot of this alone whilst Tim was away, made it very hard at times.

People who know me best know I not tall about my health, I'm a private person who expects people to respect my choice to deal with things my way.

However, with Minds help and the Winchester MH teams solid encouragement and positivity, I have come around to realise that this is NOT a judgement on myself, this isn't something that is rare and shocking. It happens all of the time, to so many mother's, set off by chemical, emotional and environmental factors.

So...sponsor me for doing something a little crazy, sponsor me because you really want to see me with no hair, sponsor me because you have seen my health decline and improve in the last 12months and know the MBU are the reason I'm still here.

I'm not just doing this for me, I'm doing this for every woman who has felt this way. Xxx
