On the 19th of June I am flying out to Sri Lanka to volunteer on a Mental Health Placement offered by SLV Global, a company who offer psychology undergraduates/graduates the chance to gain hands on experience in a clinical setting.

The placement lasts 5 weeks and I will be working along side other volunteers and practitioners to develop the mental health sector out there. I will be treating and working with patients in a psychiatric hospital or rehabilitation centre; as well as teaching English to the community, working in a special needs school and running community projects.

As I am volunteering for this placement I have to fund the placement fee (which includes donations to the services in Sri Lanka) and travel costs to get me there. Any donation, of any size, will help me gain experience for my future career as well as help develop the services offered in Sri Lanka.
