From the 18th to the 31st July 2017, myself and 10 others are heading out to teach English lessons and build relationships with Serbian students. The camp itself takes place in Fuzine, Croatia, though we spend time in Belgrade at the beginning and end of the trip. The camp is Christian, but open to students of all backgrounds and faiths.

Building bridges with the Serbs is important, particularly as we are leaving the EU and they are fighting to join it. Politically, our relationship is strained, and this is one of the reasons I believe it to be so important to fly out to them and experience their culture, whilst teaching them ours.

It is, ultimately, a mission trip, where we will be chatting about our beliefs with the students. Serbia is strictly Christian Orthodox and so, though evangelism may be difficult, we hope to offer support to those who are attempting to break from the traditional confines of the nations' faith.

The catch is, it's £700 per person. This covers our flights, travel, food and accommodation whilst we are out there. It may not seem like much, but as university students, it is a rather daunting sum of money. Very few have money to spare and so we have turned to the internet in search of support, and with the hope of reaching far more than we could with word of mouth.
