What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

In the New Year I will be going to Ghana, West Africa for 2 weeks to work with some of the poorest children. I will be helping with their development through play, teaching and even repairing crumbling schools.

I am aiming to raise £1000 with up to £650 going towards my fee's for the volunteer company (www.originalvolunteers.co.uk) and some towards flight costs and the rest of the amount will go to Save the Children - in 2016 they helped 22 million children in poverty and I am hoping that this donation can go towards helping millions more by the end of 2018. The visa, medical costs for injections, half of the flight costs and airport transfer costs will all come out of my own pocket and not from the donations.

I will be holding a fundraising event around February time to raise funds. There will be a raffle to win some great prizes. (Date, location and prizes to be confirmed).

I am asking for a lot but this is something I have been passionate about for a long time and I am hoping I can finally achieve a dream by helping children and families less fortunate than myself. This isn't a holiday, it's work and I will be there to make a difference to lives. Donating the full £1000 would provide food and water, but it wouldn't be able to hold a child's hand who probably has no other hand to hold. I want to personally make an impact on lives.

Every penny is appreciated, and not only will I be making a difference, but you will too. Thank you.

If I am unable to get enough donations and can't fund the rest myself, every penny donated will go to Save the Children.

I can’t believe I’ve almost hit the 25% mark already in less than a week. I don’t have the words to explain how much to each donation means to me.
