Story
I am a first year psychology undergraduate studying at Durham University. On 28th August 2017 I have been given the opportunity to undertake a 5 week clinical psychology placement in Sri Lanka with SLV Global, where I will be helping to treat individuals suffering from mental health illnesses. I will also be teaching the community English to improve their job prospects and will be working with people with special needs. Sri Lanka's population are in the process of recovering psychologically from a civil war lasting 25 years and the 2004 tsunami. The current resources available cannot provide the amount of support that these people actually require. This placement aims to provide more of the much needed support to Sri Lanka's population.
