Georgie my 3 year old shihtzu desperately needs a CT Scan to help diagnose whats wrong with him. He has had a lacrimal (tear duct) infection in his right eye since 2nd October 2017 and specialists think it‘s due to a foreign body/grass seed located somewhere in his tear duct. He is in considerable discomfort with this and it’s a constant battle to keep his eye free from pus/mucus. It is really bothering him and pus forms within 5 minutes of cleaning it and so in the morning its worse and is in a terrible state from it being left overnight. He has been back and forth to his vets and then his vets referred him on to an Specialist Eye Consultant In Leominster. They are 99% sure of his diagnosis but are unsure of what damage has already been done and what damage is still being done. He has been on 5 different types of antibiotics, been sedated and had his tear ducts flushed on 2 seperate occasIons without success (no foreign body dislodged). He has seen the Senior Consultant (Christine Heinrich), she has explained to me today that Georgie’s situation is extremely rare and she will not attempt surgery to remove the blockage until a CT scan confirms what it is thats causing the blockage/pus/infection.

The CT scan can be perfomed at Brentknoll Vets in Worcester once I give the go ahead to Georgie’s Consultant to refer him. He needs it now (8th December 2017). I cannot give the go ahead without the funds. The CT scan is around £900 and surgery after is around £1000. Georgie does not have any insurance to fund this.

Facts for those who don‘t know me:

I‘m 44 years of age, ex-RAF, worked all my life, I now work part time for the NHS as a medical secretary.

I’m a single parent with an 11 year old son.

I work hard and will always try to help anyone I can.

I don’t have much money (who does nowadays)?!

I love my family with all my heart and consider my 2 cats and dearest dog as my very close family members (like any animal lover does I’m sure).

I hate asking for help and try to do everything myself if I can. I have got to be pretty desperate before asking for help and support. So please consider that this is a big deal to me to ask for help. 💜

Why help Georgie 🐶 well this quirky little lad gives everyone he meets so much enjoyment with his loving, friendly personality, sporting his top knot or pig tails and everyone always stops and fusses him on his walks around Pershore, he‘s young and he‘s suffering with considerable discomfort, he doesn’t deserve this. A CT scan will give answers.
