As most of you will know, two years ago this October my sister Kelly's partner, Stuart was involved in a motorcross accident which changed their lives forever. Stuart spent months in a critical condition in intensive care. He then moved to Rookwood hospital in Cardiff, where he has fought hard for the best possible recovery. Tragically, the spinal damage he suffered was so severe it's left him with paralysis from the shoulders down.

Kelly has been by Stuart's side throughout, and at the same time has strived to keep day to day life as normal as possible for their two young children.

At long last, Stuart will be discharged from Rookwood hospital this autumn. Rehabilitation at home is going to be yet another challenge for Stuart, Kelly as his main carer and the children.

As Kelly's big sister I've always wanted to protect her, but the heartbreak and loss she's experienced since Stuart's accident is something I've been unable to keep her from. I only wish there was more I could do and that's why I've decided to run the Gower 10k on 11th November to support the next stage of their continuing journey. Kelly and Stuart have always been grafters, fiercely independent and self sufficient and I know it's not been easy for them to be in a position of need. But the cost of equipment and adaptations for their home has been extortionate and any funds raised will be much appreciated.

I am not a runner and this is a challenge for me! I hope family and friends will show their support. Thanks in advance xx
