http://www.eastcoastrecovery.co.uk I'm asking for you help, I am jumping out of a plane at 7,500ft, I am trying to raise money for a cause that does not get spoke about very often, addiction, this is a illness that is very close to my heart and I have lived with this for the last 20 years of my life and seen the devastating effects it has on the alcoholic and addict as well as the family members and children. Statistics say In 2015, 8,758 alcohol-related deaths in the UK and 2,248 drug deaths. The scary thing is that people are getting younger. This is such a controversial subject, I for one used to say"just don't do it,you have a choice, if you love me enough that you'll stop", I felt that myself and my son was not enough. After years of being involved with this illness and living with the pain and suffering that comes with it, I realised that this illness gives you no choice it controls you and takes your choice away from you, it's a hopeless state of of mind. I've seen suicide attempts, mental institutions, fights, prison and near death experiences and with all of this taken into account it was not enough for the person to remain abstinent, even though they tried to stop with all there strength. Then the hope we all prayed for came from a rehabilitation centre in lowerstoft called ECR, it taught us that this illness is centred in the brain and with a lot of hard work and sole searching I eventually had the person I loved back again. I know this is not normally a cause that many people raise money for, not like your normal charity such as cancer, heart, children but there are so many people that are affected by this awful illness, so please if I can raise anything to help at least one person get treatment it will have a knock on effect and also help the family and people that are close to them as well. So please find it in your hearts to help me and make people more aware of this terrible illness. Every penny will be going directly to this cause, nothing will be going towards the jump, Emma x
