Thanks for visiting our page! We are a group of training Police Officers which alongside our studies will be raising money for The Memory Café in a variety of ways. Our main event will be on the 20th of October. We will be cycling the length of the 350 mile Essex Coastline as a team on static bikes at Sainsbury's, Springfield, White Hart Ln, Chelmsford CM2 5PA. Come and see us from 9am to 6pm to cheer us on!!

We have also started our own tuck shop selling cakes and a variety of snacks to our colleagues at Essex Police College.

A Memory Café provides a place where any member of the public, who feels that they, or a person they know, may have memory problems, can drop in without an appointment, and talk to an experienced volunteer or if necessary a professional. Memory Cafés are distinct from Memory Clinics which are formal assessment and diagnostic services for dementia run by the NHS.

People with memory problems or dementia and their carers have the opportunity to meet regularly with other people in similar circumstances and to take part in stimulating activities, such as Arts & Craft, Quiz, Painting, Singing, Games, Puzzles and Gardening etc. Information is available, as well as practical tips about coping with dementia and memory problems. They also provide an outreach programme at all four of their cafés.

Many people make friendships as a result and are able to support each other outside the Memory Café setting. This informal setting provides emotional support and also reduces the isolation often felt by people with dementia, their carers and families.

Anything you can give to keep this fantastic charity going will be greatly appreciated by the team, the staff and all members of the Memory Café.
