    Story

Happy, determined, loving but in constant pain is Elliott, our Dachsund puppy. He is one of a litter of three beautiful, tiny puppies born on 16th July 2017

It was unclear at the beginning that he had a serious impairment in his leg, only that he was having mor difficulty than the other two at getting ou of bed

We wre always going to keep him and his shaded red brother, Henry, The third puppy, we gave to our very dear friends Stever and Jacky who have helped us through thick and thin over the last few years. A Dachsund Puppy seems little enough payment. He is Ruben, son of Ruby!, and is a fit well healthy twin of little disabled Elliott.

By the time he was 6 or 7 weks old I could feel that he was having a problem and felt it would be cruel and selfish beyond beleif to not take him to the vet while waiting for the insurance to kick in som 14 days after they were 8 weeks old. Consequently he is uninsured for this condition. I pay Direct Line £106 per month for our 5 little dachsunds, it's so infuriating. However absolutely necessary.

Our Vet, the amazing Glaven Valley at Holt in Norfolk, and sent X-Rays of Elliot's leg. They were sent to a pecialist orthopaedic surgeon. In his opinion there was simply not the skills for this type of joint repair. in due course he will loose his leg, catastrophic for a long little sausage dog, and will likely have spinal problems trying to manage on three legs. His only suggection was a referral to Dr Noel Fitzpatrick who is an engineering orthopaedic vet who may well be abe to cure Ellott's gimpy leg. Our little hop-aroundI don't regret waiting to take him to the vet early as he is now on daily anti-inflamatory and pain killin medicine. He's such a brave, courageous little dog and he tries his hardest to keep up with the rest of the crew, but he can't and won't ever be able to walk up stairs which he finds extremely frustratin and lets us al know so!!!!

Ellotts story so far. Firstly thank you to everyone who donated to take Elliott to Fitzpatricks. He has a Unilateral Congenital Elbow Luxation. He carn't be treated until he fully grown. He has Metacam painkiller each day and we carry him up and down stairs. He is truly loved
