Weʼve raised £3,880 to support Friends of Chiltern Wood School raise money for projects to help the special children who attend there

Story
Chiltern Wood School provides a special education for over 190 special children, all of whom have a learning difficulty. The Friends organisation supports the school, and raises money for specific projects to help the children and young people who attend the school. This has included refurbishing the soft play room, buying outdoor play equipment and developing an outside learning space for the Early Years classes. Further funds will go towards developing the great resource that supports the children. I aim to complete Ironman Bolton to raise money for the Friends.
Ironman triathlons involve:
2.4 mile swim
112 mile bike
26.2 mile run (no breaks in between!)
The world record is just under 8 hours; I'll be aiming for around 14 hours.

7 years agoThanks to all who have contributed to help me reach £1000 before the start gun - just about to leave the hotel to set up swim/bike/run transitions. It's looking wet ☹️ for the start of the swim/bike but clearing up later. Don't forget to follow me on the Ironman website tomorrow - 6 am start!

7 years agoOK the bag is packed and I will be heading off to Bolton tomorrow evening with my lovely family in tow. Have eaten by own bodyweight several times over this week in carbs so am well rested, and buoyed by a great film premier this afternoon from Red Kite class. The students' enjoyment in making their film will be a big source of inspiration when I hit the climbs on Sunday. Thanks so much to everyone for all the donations - it would be great to smash the £1000 mark. You can track my progress on Sunday through the Ironman website.

I am the proud head teacher of Chiltern Wood School, which educates and cares for over 190 amazing children. Funding for the school is under real threat, and the Friends organisation supports projects within the school that cannot be funded through the school budget.
