    Story

My 8-year old cousin is suffering from a serious heart illness. The only solution to fix it is a complicated surgery in the US Stanford Clinic. The price for the surgery is over 1,2 million pounds.. I'd like to help him make it possible and I need your help to do so!

Here's the message from his parents:

"Filip's heart condition is deteriorating very quickly ❗️Oxygen saturation level is falling, blood vessels which are already very weak get narrower. Without urgent surgery, our child will not survive - he may die of hypoxia. US Stanford clinic (LPCH), having seen test results, qualified Filip for the surgery, however, we must raise over 1,2 million pounds for the surgery to happen. Please, read our history and help us reach where rescue awaits!

Filip is 8 years old - he lives only thanks to three complicated heart surgeries he had already undergone. It gave us more time but unfortunately another one is still necessary - abroad, conducted by the best specialists in such complicated heart defects.

We found out about the heart defect during the pregnancy period. At first genetic damage was suspected at week 12 however subsequent tests ruled that out but their results brought an equally tragic diagnosis. Significant abnormalities in the structure of the heart were discovered. The critical defect was confirmed - the Tetralogy of Fallot along with concomitant defects of the blood circulatory system: atresia of the pulmonary trunk and left pulmonary artery and many collateral vessels.

Later, during subsequent tests, it turned out that our son grows inadequately to the age of pregnancy. There was a threat of hypoxia therefore doctors decided about premature birth. Filip was born in the 34th week of pregnancy and weighed 1500 grams. He spent the first two months in the ICU - he was too small and too weak for surgery to repair his heart. With time, other problems appeared - hernia, urethral stricture, infections ... During Filip's first year of life, we spent more than half of it in hospitals.

The first heart surgery took place when Filip was less than four years old. It is difficult to describe how parents feel when they must leave their beloved child at the operating theatre without any idea what would be the result after a few hours. We have experienced it three times – always fearing the same. Filip underwent the second surgery when he was 6 years old, the third one a year later. He already knew what awaited him. He was afraid, he did not understand why he still had to return to hospital. It's hard to explain to a child that this is the only way to save his life ...

During the last operation the blood flow between the heart and lungs was restored. The vessels were connected and widened… Unfortunately - we hit the wall again.

After six months, it turned out that the vessels were closed again despite the administration of anticoagulants. There were clots blocking the blood supply to the left lung ... We were told that at this stage we should start seeking help abroad. The heart defect is very complex and complicated – Filip’s current blood saturation is at the level of 80-85%, he has no strength, he turns blue ...

We have contacted Stanford Hospital, which is the best clinic in the world to handle similar defects. We have received the answer that Filip is a good candidate for the complete correction of the defect, i.e. the complete repair of the heart! That's a great message! Unfortunately, another, much worse one came along with it ... The cost of the operation itself was estimated at over 1,2 million pounds.

Filip doesn't have time anymore! Without surgery, he may die from hypoxia! We think about tomorrow with horror, we are afraid that the results will deteriorate so much that it will be too late to rescue. Unfortunately - the amount we can see on the bill estimate is scary and time is not our ally. We will do everything we can for Filip, but we are not able to collect such a huge amount by ourselves, so we kindly ask you for help. Be with us in the most difficult fight in our life and help us save Filip ...

    Caring parents"
