In 2015 two weeks after her wedding my sister inlaw Sarah discovered a rare Cancerous tumor called a Sarcoma.

In August 2015, Sarah started an intensive chemotherapy regime, consisting of 6 cycles, spanning a total of 30 weeks (although this was extended due to necessary delays in chemo as a result of numerous A&E admissions and blood/platelet transfusions)

After chemo Sarah had major life altering surgery to remove all parts of her pelvis, sacrum and the surrounding soft tissue that were affected by the tumour.  In order to get the whole tumor and get a clear margin, (the tumor was the size of a small rugby ball)

The operation, although a success, was a massive battle for Sarah to fight, she lost a lot of blood in the operation (more than a whole person's worth!) and she picked up numerous infections, including a form of meningitis which caused her to have seizures. The planned 6 week stay in Stanmore was 3 months in reality and she had to learn to walk again, which she has conquered with determination that has inspired us all

Sarah then underwent 7 weeks of radiotherapy

In Sept 2017 Sarah returned to work only to discover 2 weeks later during a routine Scan that the cancer had returned to her lungs

After such a huge battle this is devastating news. Sarah will face yet more months of Chemo whilst her future remains unknown
