    Story

The Association of People with Disability (APD) is a non-profit organization based out of Bangalore. Founded in 1959, we have worked extensively over the last 58 years to reach out and rehabilitate People with Disability from the under privileged segment.

Our aim is to create an inclusive society, where people with disabilities are accepted into the mainstream economy and social life. A culture and eco system where they can earn, live and sustain with dignity and respect.

In India, those who have a disability are often disregarded by others and many are disowned by their family.

In June 2018 I am travelling with 3 pupils from the school I teach in, where we aim to change peoples lives for the better. We will teach them life skills and provide positive experiences through education and horticulture work. Money raised will go towards equipment and resources which the APD require to operate and provide the best possible opportunities for disabled people. The APD also provides extensive physiotherapy and medical care for disabled people in areas where others cannot reach.

In late march/april I will be climbing Ben Nevis in order to raise funds. Disabled people in Bangalore are physically and mentally challenged every single day and with conditions likely to be deep snow this will truly be a test . Unfortunately due to the weather conditions the climb has not been possible. Instead on Sunday 29th april i am cycling the great trossachs path which is 50 kilometres

In May I shall be running a half marathon around the coatbridge area. There will also be many more fundraising activities which I shall be participating in.

I would be so grateful for any donations as they really will make a difference to the people with disabilities.

    Thank you in advance!

So today I cycled the great trossachs path. It was hellish. But so glad to have completed this challenge! Over 50km of off road cycling in sunshine rain and hail stones. 51km in 5 hours and 36 seconds.
