Freda was officially diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy in 2007 but had been suffering with the symptoms for years.

Muscular Dystrophy is a neurological condition that results in progressive weakness and breakdown of the muscles. Over the past ten years we have watched Freda’s condition deteriorate and in recent years she has had to rely on a wheelchair to stay mobile. More recently she has needed to become more dependent on others to help her transfer in and out of a chair or to and from her car.

We want to help Freda by giving her back her independence with a special car and special chair. Amongst other things a special car and chair will enable her to continue to work as a teacher which is one of her great passions. Those of you who are teachers or know teachers, will know just how much of a passion teaching can be and how much Freda does not want to give that up.

Freda has never let her disability get in the way of her teaching and recently she added a Masters MED in school guidance counselling to her repertoire which has qualified her to become the schools main guidance counsellor. Her additional role enables her to support kids with their difficulties, regardless of her own.

Freda is not the type of person to ask for help. She is the first person to support everyone else around her so we decided to try to raise money for her cause to help her continue to provide her help, support, wisdom and guidance to all the pupils at her school.
