Oliver is 18 years old, he came out as being transgender 18 months ago and was referred the gender identity clinic.

For those who don't know, Transgender is when a person feels their outside doesn't match their insides and their true identity isn't physically the same as it should be. His referral took longer than anticipated due to a mess up along the way. He recently found out that he will be starting hormones in February, exciting time for him. But the wait for him to have top surgery on the NHS is at least another 24 months. This is a time period that both Oliver and his friends feel that he cannot wait. His chest affects his daily life, it can be a struggle for him to face society knowing that he will be misgendered due to his chest. Even with a binder on, Oliver isn't recognised as male a lot of the time and this causes Oliver's Gender Dysphoria to worsen extremely. Gender Dysphoria is when a person hates their body due to the fact it doesn't match their insides, and even the simplest parts of daily life become a huge struggle. This is why we have decided to try and raise enough money for him to get top surgery quicker. Top Surgery usually costs £3000 however it can be as much as £6000, any extra money we raise will be donated to LGBT charities in the UK.

There will be a fundraising event held at The Flying Handbag, Blackpool on Monday 21st November at 7pm, where there will be a variety of entertainment, raffles, games and a buffet, all to raise money and get our friend the surgery he needs!
