    Story

This is Andrew, he is 30 years old. He was diagnosed with a rare cancer after feeling breathless whilst racing. He was a fighter. He has lost his fight for life, his new wife and his new baby boys

Imagine a movie where a boy who surfs, skates, rides and is really good at it all; who enjoys life to full. He meets a beautiful girl they fall in love have wild adventures in faraway places. They move in to their first home together and arrange the perfect marriage on a Caribbean Island before settling down to start a family. Loved by their family and friends life is great with it all to live for, nothing can go wrong.

One day, after track racing hard and almost winning he stops early with breathlessness, just a chest infection. The GP sends him for tests. Our couple are told the news that only ever happens to others. They are told that he has tumour's in his lungs. But that’s impossible, he’s only 29 he can’t have cancer, he’s healthy, he's going to be a father he can’t have cancer!
After further tests they are then told it is a rare cancer called angiosarcoma. A large tumour in his heart, and many in his lungs at an advanced stage. Reeling from this news and starting urgent chemotherapy our couple have their next baby scan which reveals they aren’t having a baby they are having twins. Our couple are left trying to make sense of this while their family and friends rally round to comfort and help any way they can.

What kind of a movie would have a plot line as cruel as this? The only thing is, as much as I wish it was a movie, just a stupid movie, it isn’t.

Unfortunately we have now lost our AS fighter.
Research into this rare disease is essential to prevent other families from going through this aweful time.

Your generosity will now go to funding research projects through SarcomaUK and the carer volunteers of the Mustard Tree, Derriford. By your popular request, donations since 12 February will also go to his widow, Becky and the twins.
    Thankyou

On Sunday the 09th April, dozens of riders joined me to ride 114 miles around Burrator Reservoir (30 laps) in Andrews honour. This was the idea of a lady who rode with Andrew and his cycling club the Plymouth Corinthians. The day was incredible, many riding over 6 hours to cover the distance. The route and segments have been recorded on Strava here: https://www.strava.com/activities/935268673 Thanks to everyone including the people of Sheepstor for allowing us to ride through their beautiful village https://tinyurl.com/kmpeegx

Thank you everyone for all your messages of support, the funding pot is growing but the feeling that there is so much good in the world reaching out is growing exponentially. To say I am moved does not begin to express how i feel. Your words of hope, love and expressions of your own challenges which has stirred you to join in with our shout. On this Friday morning before I leave for work you have all given me and my family hope that whatever comes next we will be in a stronger position to meet head on. Thank you all.
