My partner and I have opened up our home so that a 24 year old man and a 55 year old lady with learning disabilities now live with us as a part of our family. You could say that it is a bit like fostering but for adults who need help to live a fulfilling life in the community. They have really settled in well and are living really happy lives as we have become a close knit family.

In order to make life more comfortable for them (and us) we do need to make some alterations to the ground floor of our home. This would mean taking down a wall to create space for a dining area as we currently eat off trays on our laps which is a little less sociable than we would like. Also we need some plastering and damp work done in the living room and a new door fitted. there is a small area of stud work to be done too to block off an old doorway to improve the insulation. I can decorate everything myself as this is my skill but we would need new vinyl for what would become our kitchen-diner and some new carpeting in the living room.

These alterations would have a significantly positive effect on our lovely service users and so any help that you can offer would be deeply appreciated.

We do not want to just take without giving and so if we do raise the funds we need then we pledge to pass on the same amount of money to other peoples causes at the rate of at least ten pounds per week so that we can keep spreading the love.
