I'm the founder of ForgottenVeteransUK I'm a injured War Veteran who served in Afghanistan. Since leaving the Armed Forces I have struggled with my physical and mental injuries and have felt abandoned by the Army and country I served. I have used my experiences to link up with many other Veterans and use social media to run forums so that people worse off than me do not have to feel alone anymore, the group offers advice and support where needed.
Our aims are to simply raise money and gift homeless and vulnerable veterans the deposit to get them into suitable accommodation, we will pay a vetted landlord directly what is needed. A Welfare manager will then work with the Veteran to get them to the relevant organisations and charities to continue with their rehabilitation. We believe that trying to raise money for a home when you are homeless or vulnerable is virtually impossible and through us we can give them that chance in life, as a roof over their head is the first step into their rehabilitation. We plan to run this as a online service with no pay to ourselves, meaning we will be able to keep the overheads to an absolute minimum giving every penny possible to those in need. Please help ForgottenVeteransUK's dream of becoming a registered charity, up to now I have payed for everything out of my pension but we desperately need more funds to help this become a reality! This is a simple and new concept that will run along side many other organisations helping us to house as many of our heroes as possible, we are losing more and more Veterans to suicide as they struggle to find housing, support and relevant medical care. A roof over a Veterans head is the first step to rejoining civilian life, please help us, to help them! The loss of life on the battle field is expected and excepted! The loss of life after the war is over is not acceptable at all... Please help us to make a real change and get our heroes off our streets.
