On the 28th May, I will be part of the Manchester Purple Wave, running 10k around the city to raise money for my trip to Bali on the 3rd July 2017.

I will be travelling out to Indonesia for a month with SLV Global, an organisation that focuses on mental health in communities that need extra support.

In Bali, traditional healers are more commonly consulted for psychological issues than doctors or other professionals, which leaves the most vulnerable in the communities without help and support.

I will be volunteering in Bali's only inpatient psychiatric facility to help with the running of therapeutic activities for the service users at varying stages of recovery.

I will also be working on projects with children from difficult backgrounds, to help get them interested in learning English. We will be creating mediums through which they can explore their emotions in a safe and productive way, without the requirement for talking therapy.

As well as this, I will be working on projects with individuals with special needs, offering support to staff at under resourced facilities in the local community, and helping to unlock the creative potential within its service users.
