I am running the Bournemouth half marathon on Sunday 8th October to raise funds for Foxhound Welfare UK (FWUK.)

FWUK was set up 13 years ago and is a non-profit dog rescue, run by volunteers. It is the only specialist scent hound rescue. They rescue, rehabilitate and rehome unwanted and abused scent hounds, and are in urgent need of funds for food, vet and emergency boarding fees. Scent hounds are an active, social breed, which are driven by their noses. Many hounds come to FWUK because owners can no longer cope or have not realised the work that is required by them to ensure a scent hound is happy in a forever home. FWUK is a non-kill rescue which means hounds aren't put to sleep unless under veterinary advice. All hounds are cared for until forever homes can be found for them. If circumstances change for the owner, FWUK will always take their own dogs back.

Marshall and I discovered FWUK whilst looking for help with our own rescue foxhound, Buddy. We have received invaluable support and advice from Jackie who runs FWUK and truly understands the breed, as well as the facebook group friends that support and share their stories of this wonderful breed. I would now like to give something back so that FWUK can continue to take in and take care of as many rescue scent hounds as possible and to continue to support and advise those that have rescued the breed.
