    Story

We are raising money for Glasgow Open House Arts Festival 2017! All money we raise will go into the production of the festival, and running its' Outreach workshops.

We are a small, not-for-profit group which celebrates Glasgow’s vibrant, insightful and industrious culture. We do this by inviting it’s residents to present art, music, and performance in their homes!

Anyone who’d like to get involved can apply to present something - emerging and established artists, performers, those working outside of mainstream arts, as well as local organisations and groups operating in Glasgow.

The festival is ideal for people to showcase their creative endeavours and get some positive feedback. The festival brings communities together, as it creates opportunities and situations where participants meet new people, get to know their surrounding area, and connect with some of their neighbours.

We programme and facilitate the festival, whilst most of the events and exhibitions are generously hosted by those that apply. We offer support and guidance to participants, and connect people and organisations.

Our Outreach directly engages groups who might not get involved through our standard application process, and where there is room for others to participate and learn, we work to include them.

This year, we’re working with two fantastic organisations based in Glasgow: The Coach House Trust and Project Ability. We will be creating joyful, colourful and characterful “way-finders”, which will be used during the festival weekend to mark the venues which house an exhibition or event.

Glasgow Open House is founded on a collaborative spirit. Throughout our Outreach and our festival programming, we approach other Glasgow-based organisations whose work we admire and respect, to work with them or otherwise learn from them.

During the festival, we run free “art walks” where groups are taken round a trail of exhibitions, which have always proved popular!

Thanks everyone for your support so far! We've got our fundraising event coming up this Tuesday 14th, so we're busy preparing for our silent auction! Here's Sean Mulvenna's donated print "Host I" - the man behind Glasgow Open House's visual identity! Loads more up for grabs, including donations from Duncan Marquiss, Dave Sherry, Mavin Gaye Chetwynd, and Sam Ainsley - plus lots more! 10 days left on our JustGiving campaign, and we're quarter of the way to our total! Can you help us get even further?

Here's a pic of some preparatory work for our wayfinder workshops with The Coach House Trust! Thinking about tenement flat tiles, animals in their homes (inspired by the Open House 2017 tortoise!) and other such things - to develop ideas for the wayfinder tiles to be made for the festival! Thanks to El, our outreach officer, for this pic :)

We've been experimenting for our wayfinder workshops with Project Ability! Trying out different techniques and materials to develop our practical approach to the workshops :) We're very excited to start working with the artists there!
