Glasgow Saints F.C. are a community football club set up to help alleviate the issues of food poverty and isolation within our local community of Dennistoun, Glasgow.

Two days ago we received news that our local foodbank (The Everlasting Foodbank) has had their budget for providing meals to young people out of school term, cut by the council due to constraints caused by the Covid 19 pandemic.

In February, 168 children, who otherwise would have gone hungry, were provided with nutritious meals made from fresh produce as part of the foodbank's commitment to ensuring no child goes hungry.

However, with this new bombshell and just 3 weeks until the preparations were due to begin towards their work in the April holidays, the foodbank has been left with a £3000 deficit (the full budget cut was £3600 and they have been able to raise £600, but are in desperate need for the remainder to ensure no one is turned away).

Glasgow Saints F.C. have been proud to support this fantastic organisation; who run a community cafe every week and a foodbank bi-weekly for all those in need, with no demeaning means testing and no one turned away.

Their work goes under the radar, they don't seek praise or attention, they simply want to help those in need... and now they are desperately asking for our help.

Step up to the plate G.S.F.C manager Iggi Keith, whose idol is Paul Weller, and whose icy, flowing locks he admiringly sports himself (and has done so for some time)... Iggi hasn't taken a set of clippers to his head in years, but for this cause, the big man is ready to step in.

Iggi will have his hair shaved off in 3 weeks time should the £3k be raised... but aside from this, please dig deep to help the young people of our community who will otherwise go hungry with no school meal and through no fault of their own.

No one, and especially no child, should go hungry in 2021.
