    Story

Carlisle Riding For The Disabled Group which is part of a National Charity based at Blackdyke Riding Centre Carlisle. The group helps provide Horse riding lessons for Disabled Children and Adults, riding is a fun activity and helps with balance, co ordination and muscle development. One of the most important things horse riding gives back to the riders is self confidence and a sense of independence which is invaluable watching them grow. My Daughter Hannah has been riding with the Carlisle Group for the past 10 years as she was born with Right Heliplegia Cerebral palsy, Hannahs Physiotherapist recommended when she was 4 years old we try horse riding as it helps strengthen her core muscles and posture. As Hannahs confidence has grown along with her horse riding ability over the years Hannah now competes at National level and hopes one day to be part of the Paralympic team this shows not only Hannah's dedication but the Volunteers who dedicate their free time to help the riders achieve their goals. Being a Dad watching your child grow has inspired me to volunteer part of my time to help the Carlisle group as we sometimes struggle for dedicated volunteers to help with the Horses and riders and organise group activities. Fundraising and donating are the most important ways of supporting the group to help it grow and support the Charity, my way of giving something back will be taking Part in a Charity Bike Ride taking place on September 10th 2017 riding from Glasgow to Edingburgh, as part of PEDAL FOR SCOTALND bike challenge, and would like to raise £1000.00 for the Charity which will help to go towards Livery Fees for the Horse the Charity now owns and also equipment. If you can make a donation it will be greatly received and a fantastic way of supporting a local Charity.
