Story
I'll be doing a live stream sing this Thursday at 3pm to raise money for The Black Curriculum. Join me on my Facebook page then by searching @georgemartinmarino.
Changing society for the betterment of all involves education. In today's society there exists glaring inequality in many areas for many people, but none more so than those born with black skin. We can change this by educating those around us and those with power about beliefs and thoughts they have learned that negatively impact this section of out community, but what if they never learned these beliefs in the first place?
The Black Curriculum aims to stem the flow of harmful beliefs at the root of our society by educating those who will inherit our society on how to create a more caring and equal community both locally and nationally. I'm a science teacher, I have seen the science curriculum in various schools and am shocked at the complete lack of black representation in our classrooms. As a child in pre-18 British institutions, you'd almost be forgiven for thinking non-white people only started existing in 20th century. This is unacceptable.
By donating to The Black Curriculum you could fund (taken from their donation page):
"£10 - Will help us develop packages of support for teachers
£20 - Will help us to buy more books around Black history for young people
£50 - Will go towards the provision of materials for young people
£100 - Will go towards supporting our freelancers who are teaching our syllabus, training teachers and also creating new resources for young people."
Society is still waking up and has been for a majority of the last 60 years. Help society wake up faster by donating now.
