Weʼve raised £250 to Isabelle & Retts Syndrome

Funded on Saturday, 15th July 2017

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

Ever done an open water swim? No me neither....this all changes on the 11th June 2017 when I am going to complete the 5km Great North Swim around Lake Windermere.

This is the equivilent of running 12.4 miles in 2 hours (nope I have never run any kind of distance either). Yep I must be mad I hear you say.....but I wanted this to be a life changing challenge for me.

With your help we can also make it life changing for a very special little girl.

Ever heard of Retts syndrome? I hadn't until my daughter started school & met the amazing Barnett family.

Their world was shattered on 23rd September 2015.

Isabelle is the youngest child to sisters Maisy 5 & Matilda 3.

She was a perfectly healthy normal very happy baby & everything seemed perfect. It was just after her 1st birthday when they noticed she wasn't saying daddy anymore, she wasn't playing with toys & instead she was just tapping her hands & wringing her fingers. She became very unsociable. She cried if they tried to talk to her, she just wanted to be alone.

They hoped it was just a stage & that things would be fine, but something was very wrong. They had to wait 8 months going back & forth to the doctors before seeing the paediatrician & she said she thought it was Retts.

Retts syndrome is a rare severe mental & physical disability. It's a random fault in the genes, nothing causes it & it's not hereditary. It affects 1:10000 girls.

Girls develop normally for the first 12-18 months of their life's, many learn to walk & talk & do as any other baby would, everything is perfect, then out of the blue Retts syndrome takes it all away.

Girls are robbed of their ability to speak, walk or use their hands. They're stuck in broken bodies at risk of seizures, epilepsy, breathing problems & more.

There's lots of resources & therapies that would make a huge difference & give Isabelle the life she deserves, the life she had.

So please help raise these vital funds by donating.

    Thank You
