Weʼve raised £405 to add defibrillators to Halesowen North to help save a life in times of need

Funded on Thursday, 30th June 2022

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

Asking for the community of Halesowen North to come together to help raise funds to add Defibrillators to a number of locations in the area. Defibs being situated on the outside of buildings in the area would be there in times of need.

Less than 1 in 10 people in the UK survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. This has been partly attributed to two factors that communities can change:

    - there aren’t enough people prepared to perform CPR when someone has a cardiac arrest

    - there aren’t enough defibrillators.

By having a defibrillator in your community and by training people in CPR, you can play an important part in saving more lives.

At the time of this just giving page being set up I have contacted a few owners of properties in the area and I am in talks to hopefully get a defib added to their property. The Swan, Long Lane have agreed to have one and will also put on fund raisers in there pub (when covid restrictions are lifted).

Each defib and external cabinet costs around £1600. This depends on the type of defib added.

Here is a picture of the first def and bleed kit installation in Halesowen North. Since this installation, there is another 3 sites that are on board to have this set up. Express Taxis, 234 Dudley Rd, Halesowen The Swan, Long Lane, Halesowen Coombswood Sports and social club, Stewarts Rd need locals and businesses to come forward and help by donating to these installations. Hopefully these units will never be used but are there in times of needs to save life. One defib is being donated by a local first aid company https://www.worksafe999.com/

Hi All, Thank you for taking the time to read these updates. Please share the link to this fund raiser to help get more defibs and bleed kits around Halesowen North. This week I have had a meeting with a new site to get one installed in the near future which is great news for those who use the site and locals in that area. The new site is Coombs Wood Sports and Social Club.

Today (22/04/2021) I took delivery of the first defib cabinet and bleed kit that will be installed in Halesowen North. It is great to see items arriving that will protect and safe life in times of need. The installation of the cabinet will be on Monday at Merryvale Nursey.
