We are giving ourselves just one month (!) to train for the Alderley Edge 10K in order to raise money for our dear friend Mandy who is in desperate need of life-saving surgery which is going to cost £60,000.

This will be no mean feat for me (Hannah) after having been diagnosed with cancer last year; undergoing surgery, hormone treatment and 20 rounds of gruelling radiotherapy. Safe to say I'm not in my physical prime! BUT, I was lucky, I got a second chance at life, and could be treated on the NHS.

ABOUT MANDY:

Mandy suffers from a rare genetic disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). This causes her body to produce collogen incorrectly, making many parts of her body too stretchy. For many years the only major effect that this had on her was to cause hypermobility in her joints, however since 2014 it has been having more serious consequences. She is now house-bound, struggling with forever worsening symptoms that have a huge impact on her quality of life.

There is no surgeon in the UK capable of doing the surgery that Mandy needs. She is having to travel to Barcelona to see a specialist and the procedure is not performed within the Spanish state healthcare system, only privately. Her surgery is scheduled for September but she still needs to raise more money, and fast.
