My wonderful girlfriend Hannah was diagnosed with endometriosis after 10 years of excruciating pain. Endometriosis is a condition where tissue that usually lines the womb is found on other organs. The tissue builds and where the womb lining is normally broken down with the menstrual cycle, this tissue can't and causes chronic pain. Hannah has stage 4 advanced recto-vaginal endometriosis which is incredibly severe causing other medical complications. There is currently no cure and is treated with laparoscopic surgery.
Hannah previously underwent surgery and was placed in a medical menopause in order to prevent the endometriosis from reoccurring. In January 2017 Hannah was admitted to hospital in severe pain as the endometriosis had returned with a vengeance. Hannah has dutifully followed advice from NHS specialists however this has not reduced her pain and the NHS are limited in their treatment options and one suggestion was a hysterectomy which could have dire consequences for someone Hannah's age.
Hannah is 25 and full of life. She is a hardworking and kind young woman who is sadly currently being held hostage by endometriosis. With research Hannah discovered a surgeon who has pioneered an operation called Total Pelvic Peritoneal Excision which is only available privately. After a consultation the decision has been made to operate in May. This surgery is incredibly invasive and takes 10 hours however should reduce her symptoms and hopefully improve her quality of life. As the surgery is so specialised it has a large fee of £25,000 and we have exhausted all other options of financial aid. This surgery has the potential to change Hannah's life as it has done for so many other women who have undergone this surgery.
She is desperate to get back to living a normal life as she has been housebound since January and to get back to her job which she loves.
