I am one of 10 pupils chosen to represent my school, St Matthews Academy, in an exchange trip to Mzuzu, Malawi in June 2017. While in Mzuzu, I will be volunteering to help at places such as the Mary Martha Orphan Care Centre, the local hospital, visiting the Women's Development Centre, and working with children at St Peters Secondary (our partner school). I'm looking forward to being part of the local community in Mzuzu and will use my knowledge of sport, particularly football, to help teach and get all the pupils involved in physical activities.

I am very grateful for this fantastic chance to experience the culture in a developing country and to get involved with the pupils over there.

I have been in contact with a few former pupils of St Matthews that have been fortunate enough to visit Mzuzu and their stories and experience's have inspired me to do whatever I can to make a positive impact on the people living in Malawi. The trip will also provide me with invaluable life experience.

Throughout the past few years I have helped contribute by donating clothes parcels to children from the Malawian community. In recent months construction of a science block has begun at St Peters Secondary in Mzuzu, through support by St Matthews. We set a goal of £4500 to help and through school fundraising events this will be achieved.

I have been tasked with raising £1500 and would greatly appreciate and welcome any donation that you could make to my fundraising pledge.

With your help I will be able to make a changes to the lives of the people I meet in Malawi and donations will help families by having a positive impact on the community.
