My name is Harry Thomson, I am 16 years old and attend West Hill school, I have been playing underwater hockey (aka Octopush) from 6 years old (Yes.. underwater hockey ... Yes.. it is a sport...thought I would answer that as it's always the question people ask ).

I have been training intensely for the past 2 years along with my fellow athletes to try and secure a place in the Great Britain team and represent my country in the world age group championships in Hobart/Australia in July 2017 .

In January I discovered that I had been selected to play the U19 team...awesome!.........I am really excited and proud to have made the team and all the hard work has paid off, but now it must increase my training, I have a strict fitness and conditioning regime to follow whilst sticking to a nutrition plan to ensure I'm in peak condition for July. Along with this I have to start fund raising to and help cover the cost of the tournament fees, accommodation, flights and equipment as currently UK sport do not provide any funding towards the team GBUWH and the total will be approx £3500! This does not include training camps leading up to the tournament that require hotels and travel, my close family are funding this and also helping to pay for the World championships . I have got to try and complete all this in the next 6 months whilst also revising for and sitting my GCSE exams in May/June so any help you could give would really help.
