    Story

Hello! Welcome to team 'Have We Peaked?'s Funding Page!! We are a group of 9, some might say crazy, people determined to complete The 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours and raise some much needed money for two worthy charities! The Team is made up of Lorraine Tovey-Cooke, Fi Johnstone, Emma Glenister, Millie Lemon, Gill Campbell, Sarah Richardson, Caroline Pearson, Nancy Lawson and Henrietta Gillespie.

Please have a read of our story below and understand why we have decided to punish ourselves so extremely to raise money! Any donation big or small goes a long way in helping us achieve our goal and will be gratefully received. Donations will be split between the charities once we have completed our challenge. Any offline donations can be handed to any member of the team, and there will be collection pots at Great Bedwyn School, The Salon in Great Bedwyn, The Post Office Great Bedwyn and The Three Tuns Great Bedwyn.

Dementia UK: When Fi's Nan got Dementia two years ago she had very little understanding of it, what to expect, what was to come and how she could support her family through the heartache. Since her diagnosis the bottom has fallen out of all of their worlds, this rapid and savage disease has taken no time at all in picking apart the strong matriarch of her family. They've mourned a living person, she's here but she's not! She has been searching, not only for a cure but also for a key....the key that would unlock the door between them, even just for a few moments so she can glimpse 'her' again, hear her call Fi that special nickname, have her correct the way she is standing, or even just to see a flicker of recognition when someone walks in. Fi decided she wanted to help, not just her Nan but in general. Jump out of a plane? Run a marathon? This wasn't enough! This wouldn't change perceptions, misconceptions and an understanding of just how to find that key! So Fi became a Dementia Friend, pledging to raise both awareness and much needed funding! Fi may not be able to change the world but armed with more knowledge of this disgusting disease and a drive to help, she might just make a difference to one person, and may even get to unlock that door for moments! Make a little difference in someones life! Learn! We may never find a cure for Dementia but we can cure a little heartache ❤️❤️ Fi has already taken part in the Memory Walk and this is her second pledge, 3 Peaks watch out! Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year – that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes, with your donations we can help fund vital research and start to stamp this disease out!!

GBSA: Great Bedwyn School has a reputation for providing outstanding learning opportunities for all its pupils and for promoting a rich curriculum that enables pupils to grow and develop not just academically but physically, emotionally, spiritually and culturally too. Music, drama and art are particularly strong elements of their curriculum with many pupils performing in a variety of different ways across the school year. Developing an enthusiasm for physical activity is also encouraged with a wide variety of after school clubs available to get involved with. In addition, they are proud of their Forest School which enables pupils to value and enjoy outdoor learning opportunities on our site but also within the Savernake Forest. It is a school in which pupils, staff, parents and governors all work tirelessly to ensure the best possible opportunities are afforded to its pupils. Their caring ethos and Christian values permeate the school and are evident in many different ways including: the pupils’ exemplary behaviour; their positive learning environments in which all learners are valued and respected; their strong, supportive teaching team; their Buddy system which enables the Year 6 pupils to support the new Reception pupils; the school reward systems and the Governing Body that both supports and challenges the school effectively. Great Bedwyn School is a happy, vibrant and creative learning community and they are committed to ensuring all pupils continue to receive the best possible learning experiences that will prepare them well for the future. GBSA aims to enrich the experience of the children by fundraising for equipment and experiences that go above and beyond what the school budget can provide. In recent years, they have helped to equip the new school library and create an amazing new outdoor play area. This academic year they have funded new outdoor play equipment (skipping ropes, balls etc.) and purchased two new bike/scooter pods for children to use. We would like to raise money to improve access to the outdoor learning environment for children with disabilities by adding to the existing play equipment. We would also like to contribute to the development of the Year 1 outdoor area which is tired and old. Lorraine, as the class teacher, would especially love to see children exploring and discovering through play outside of the classroom as well as in. A mud kitchen and sand pit would be ideal!

Thank you SO much! Please please click donate, not forgetting Gift Aid and wish us luck......We are going to need it!!

Love, Lorraine, Fi, Emma, Millie, Caroline, Sarah, Gill & John xxxx
