Story
Can you help to keep the Hawkwise Family together?
The Award winning Hawkwise ‘Family’ are 10 captive-bred Birds of Prey, along with owner/ falconer Rebecca (Becky) Friar and are currently based at the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre in Leicestershire.
Sadly, due to a financial review of services by Leicestershire County Council, the Hawkwise tenancy has not been renewed and they are now facing an uncertain future.
Becky and the Hawkwise birds have provided education for numerous groups of schoolchildren from within the County, entertained at a variety of birthday parties, presented at the annual Richard III Battle of Bosworth re-enactment event, as well as delighting guests by flying the wedding rings along the aisle for nervous bridegrooms! Becky and the birds have also provided training days for LANTRA teaching the industry standard to their students.
During the past 8 years Becky has received numerous outstanding endorsements and recommendations for her work.
The bird ‘family’ need to be relocated by 8 August this year and Becky is now looking for support to do so via sponsorship. Becky has worked with some of the birds for over 16 years, creating a bond between falconer and bird that would make rehoming them ‘not an option’.
Are you able to help keep the Hawkwise Family together? A total of £7000 is needed to provide individual aviaries for the 10 birds.
If you or your Company can provide sponsorship in the region of £500, Becky and the Hawkwise birds would be pleased to visit a venue of your choice within the County, maybe as part of a garden party, family day or birthday party. Alternatively, you may wish to provide sponsorship for Becky to visit a local school or care home of your choice, again within the County.
Donations of all sizes are also very welcome!
