Dear friends,

Through the charity Friends of Smyrna Home, I will be going with a team to Smyrna Home to help and work with the poor in the community of Ootacamund (Ooty), in India for two weeks in August .

Smyrna Home was founded in 1984 and has always worked to relieve poverty, tend to sick, feed the poor, house the needy and show love and compassion. In 1996 the UK charity, Friends of Smyrna Home, was formed to support all the work of Smyrna Home in India.

Our team will help with the day-care centre for children and adults with disabilities, spend time with the children of the Sponsorship Children Programme, assist with the the feeding programme, and work in the grounds, in addition to visiting the local school and prison.

The cost of the total trip will be £1400, which will cover the flights, visas, and accommodation. £150 will be used to help provide the materials for a brick built house (10' x 10') with a proper floor and a corrugated roof for a family who do not have a house to live in. It is likely that the support from my family and my local church's mission committee will be able to cover up to a third of the cost, which is why I am only seeking to raise £900 and not the full cost.
