Story
In March I spent two weeks working on The Mercy Ships in Benin. It was a humbling, emotional and very rewarding experience for me.
To go I held a number of events to fund the trip and also allow me to give the charity a donation.
While on the ship I decided I wanted to return on the next trip to Cameroon. I am signed up to go in March 2018.
I am lucky enough to be able to take a few weeks holiday from my work to use to go, but the charity encourages volunteers to fund raise to help pay for the flights, injections and bed and board. I hope again to be able to also give a cash donation to the charity to help fund some of the work they do.
This page has been set up to help me get sponsored for a wee challenge I have set myself! In the last few weeks I have started to go out on my bike with my friends, Jeanette and Jeni. We have decided to push our selves a wee bit by taking on this cycling challenge!
1 to try to improve our fitness and 2 help fund my trip.
If you feel you could sponsor us just a little, it would all add up and help raise enough for me to give the charity a donation too.
Thank you for reading my wee story.

7 years agoThat last hill at New Road was a very welcome sight. To see Jim, John, Gus and Emily there waiting was such an amazing feeling. We did it!! Thanks girls for all the encouragement and support you have given me and each other. Team Mercy are the best. Thank you to all the lovely people who have been so generous and made this challenge so worth doing. This has helped enormously to help fund my stay on the Mercy Ship next year.

7 years agoRefuelled and some lovely company brought a smile to my face again. Those hills did not get any easier and I really struggled but the girls just kept me going even although they were in pain too. By the time we got to Logie I knew I could not give up then. The power of friendship, the mind over matter attitude and knowing I could not let all the people who had sponsored us down, kept me going. A huge lift came as we got into Forfar and a couple of friends literally abandoned their car to cheer us on the last wee bit was amazing.

7 years agoWhat a fortnight this has been leading up to the audax! Soft tissue damage, lack of practice and nerves. This morning I set off with the girls with much nervousness. All was going well until we hit Kilroy or should say Killery Hill! Every sore part of my body came to the surface. Painkillers taken! And off we went on the decent! Both Jen and Jeanette kept me going over the last couple of miles to the pit stop. Jeanette should be a Sargent major on the drill field!! But she got me there! My sugars must have been in my boots by then.
