First let me introduce Cian he is our wonderful happy 11 year old boy who faces every hurdle he has come across with a smile.
Cian has an undiagnosed neurological condition causing him to suffer regular uncontrolled seizures.
He has been diagnosed with epilepsy and takes numerous different types of seizures which include tonic clonic, myoclonic, absences, drop attacks and most recently focal seizures. He has been diagnosed with global developmental delay, ataxia, microcephaly & has a whole host of other things I could go on a while. He needs 24/7 care with all his basic needs.
Cian's nervous system began to shut down in 2010 & he was paralysed & tube fed taking hundreds of seizures every day & we were losing him, the doctors agreed afterwards that they thought that too. Amazingly our little fighter improved & after a month we went home, We have struggled for 7 years to control cians seizures and were quite successful for some time (never stopping them but much less) but sadly around 6-8months ago they have came back with avengence including a new type (focal seizures) he is having them up to 4 times per night as well as tonic clonic every other night.
This has made him really tired & he's napping 2/3 times per day sometimes more. He has a wheelchair but it's just not suitable for sleeping in & he becomes very distressed & generally will have a melt down unless we take him home this means he misses out and so do his sisters. If he was able to sleep he could still take part in between, we just feel since he out grew his special needs buggy (Nhs provided) we are becoming housebound more and more often and he is missing out on so much family fun, we all are!
We have found a chair that meets his needs and will do him through his teens and longer (he's not expected to fully grow) & would be ever so grateful to anyone that could help us get this for our beautiful boy. Thank you!!
