During September 2018 5 year old Iona was diagnosed as suffering from an extremely rare and aggressive form of brain stem cancer.

This form of cancer is exceptionality rare, with only around 100 known cases on record internationally.

Given how rare this cancer is, medical staff are unable to provide a clear treatment path, with Iona facing major brain surgery and a lengthy stay in hospital post operation, where she will begin radiation therapy and likely chemotherapy.

Iona’s family are a hard working regular family, with another 2 year old child, who are trying to provide the support Iona requires however this removes the option of both parents being able to continue working.
