    Story

Owais Raja from Pakistan is fighting for the lives of his wife and son . Imagine living in a new country, one where you work hard and where your family can live in safety and security. Then through no fault of your own you are denied the right to work, denied access to services, including Health. Services your wife and children need to survive. You can't travel because you've been classed as a potential threat. Just because your accountant made a mistake.

This is what happened to the Raja family. They are being denied medical treatment because the Home Office decided he was a threat to national security after a tax blunder by his accountant. He's run out of money and is selling his possessions on Gumtree in an effort to pay medical costs and rent.Guardian article

Imagine being the breadwinner and having that role destroyed and explaining to your young children that there's nothing you can do. That it isn't your fault. That your punishment is unjust. Owais doesn't have to imagine it, it's his life now.

Let's make it right. Let's lend a hand. Even £1.00 helps. If you can't donate please help by sharing.

    Thank you

This appeal for help finished and then I found out they still need help. I've set up another page which I hope people will use to help this family. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/owais-raja

There have been some donations from students and colleagues of Owais who attest to his hard work and effort on their behalf. This underlines just how stupid this whole situation is. When hard working families are destroyed by an inflexible and overbearing state it's time to ask some questions. Owais is very grateful for all the support he has received, both in terms of money raised and the sentiments expressed. I also thank everyone who has taken the time to help. To keep this issue alive please share wherever you can and with whoever you can.

Thanks for donating to Owais. He messaged me to thank us for our support and said it caused him to become emotional. I'm sure you've already shared with as many people as you can but in case you didn't share then that is a really important way to help. Thank you so much.

I'm not involved. I read the story and was horrified. I set up the fundraiser to help the family and hoped others would feel the same way.
