Whilst on our holiday in Mauritius, an island with approximately 200,000 stray dogs we made friends with a beautiful little dog we have named Charlie. Charlie, along with the other 200,000 street dogs on the island do not have a home, are riddled with fleas, battling mange and have to beg for scraps of food to survive along with many other illnesses and injuries. Unfortunately, this population of stray dogs face the high possibility of capture and euthanasia, a control measure implemented by the Mauritian government. Dogs here also experience cruelty as some consider them vermin and face numerous dangers in their every day lives; a life we wish to take Charlie away from.

We have fallen in love with Charlie and she has become very attached to us, following us wherever we go and waiting outside our hotel room to greet us on a morning. Charlie, we believe is about 1-2 years old and despite the struggles she's undoubtly had to endure, she is the friendliest little dog when she gets to know you. She has thrived with the affection we have been giving her and since day 1 has not left our side. We think Charlie needs a loving forever home and to say goodbye to life as a stray.

Another little dog we have become very attached to is Minnie, she is in a much worse state than Charlie and requires surgery for a prolapsed uterus. We are working with a charity here in Mauritius called All Lives Matter who may be able to save Minnie and give her the medical treatment she desperately needs. Charlie also requires various veterinary treatments, this accompanied with the cost of getting Charlie back to the UK are high therefore we are asking for any help, however small, to contribute towards both Charlie and Minnies treatment.
