Hello and thank you for visiting my page! I'm Helena, I'm 25 and suffer with Cerebal Palsy Spastic Diplegia, which means that I am unable to walk and use a manual wheelchair to get around. I also suffer from Systemic Lupus, a hugely debilitating Autoimmune Disease which affects my joints, organs and leaves me prone to severe infections, flares and lengthy hospital stays.

As a result of Lupus, I have a blood disorder which means my blood clots unnecessarily and I've had clots in my legs and they can develop anywhere in my body. I have begun to suffer with complete paralysis of my left side, and when this happens I am unable to push my wheelchair and move around my home etc.

However, a piece of equipment called a Smart Drive means that when this happens, I would be able to remain mobile. The Smart Drive is a device which fits on to the back of a manual wheelchair, and at a tap via a Bluetooth setting, turns a manual chair to a power chair, taking over the pushing motion when I am unable to push myself. This is something that will, without doubt, make life so much easier for me when I am either suffering paralysis or in extreme pain and become too fatigued to push, meaning that I won't have to rely on others.

It of course comes at a cost and isn't funded by the NHS, so I'm raising money to be able to purchase a Smart Drive as soon as possible and experience it making my life much easier.
