Story
I’ve set up this page to raise some money for James, Kate and family whilst James recovers from spending 100 days in hospital with Covid, 70 of those in intensive care.
James is an absolute inspiration . It’s difficult to put into words the trauma he has been through battling Covid . He is now home to carry on with his rehabilitation . He is so positive I know he will tackle it with the same determination he has shown to survive against all the odds. He’s not a man to be defeated and we are behind him all the way. This page has been set up to help bridge the gap from James’ loss of income due to self employment and to pay for James’ care needs.
James is one of the good guys, a gentle giant who brings a smile to everyone he meets with his humour and personailty. Covid has ravaged James Physically and its going to take time for him to recover and get back on his feet and back to his old self.
On the 30th December 2020 James was rushed to hospital with breathing difficulties due to Covid. The next day .. New Years Eve James was told that the only option to save his life was to go to Intensive care and be put in a medically induced coma and put on to a ventilator to give his lungs a chance to recover. Soon after Kate got a call saying James probably wasn’t going to survive and to prepare to say goodbye. Luckily James stabilised. Over the course of the next 7 weeks James battled double pneumonia, multiple organ failure, sepsis and a number of other infections. On a number of occasions Kate received the call that James’ condition had worsened and to expect the worst. James fought hard and overcame every bump in the road and eventually was well enough to under go a tracheostomy to enable him to be weaned off the ventilator. James came out of Intensive care after 70 days and was transferred to a high dependency unit for a further 30 days. After being unconscious for 7 weeks has left James with severe muscle wastage and needs intensive rehabilitation in order build his muscle mass and do day to day tasks.
Kate and James came the decision that James would rehabilitate back at home with her and the rest of the family Jessica, David and Darcie. They have converted their dining room in to downstairs bedroom for James to live comfortably . James is self employed and will not be able to return to work for some time there fore will have no income
