Story
Hi all. My sister Carol's cat Tilly started frothing at the mouth and vomiting blood and her breathing became laboured, they felt she was going to die so they rushed her to the nearest vet. My sister is actually entitled to free vet treatment for her pets at the PDSA but as Tilly was in such a bad way they rushed her to the nearest vet. The vet did an Xray and felt that there was a foreign object in Tilly's stomach. Tilly also has pneumonia from inhaling vomit : ( They suspected she needed surgery or the other option was to put Tilly down. My sister chose to not put her down as there was a chance Tilly could be helped, even though it would cost a lot of money. After Tilly stabilised at the vet she was then rushed into the vet school in Edinburgh for surgery. After arriving at the vet school however, the vet felt she hadn't swallowed something and the reason for her vomiting blood and struggling to breathe may be because of something like bacteria, poisoning or it may have been caused by blunt force trauma to her stomach. In other words someone may have deliberately hurt her or she fell and hurt herself. It isn't likely to have happened by being hit with a car as she would have been more injured. They weren't sure what was causing it but she is still fighting and being monitored by the vets in Edinburgh.
Carol didn't have pet insurance but she had some money put aside for such emergencies. However, the vet fees are likely to amount to thousands which Carol doesn't have. My sister Carol suffers from anxiety and depression, her cats are her support animals that help her on a daily basis. Shes a kind person who tries to help others as much as she can, she especially loves animals and cats. She is also a carer to my Mum so doesn't have a lot of money. Tilly is a lovely cat, very sweet natured. She's only 5 years old.
My sister donates to a lot of animal causes like this one. She tries to help others as much as she can even if it's only a small amount, I just want to help her and Tilly this time.

7 years agoTilly is now home! Her vet bill is huge so if you can help that would be amazing! She got the results back from a pancreatitis test which showed as normal, which mean that Tilly's illness was due to stomach gastritis. Many things can cause that like infection, trauma but we now think she ate a plant or flower that is harmful to cats. She's doing well at home. Resting mainly. Still on meds as she has infection in her lungs. Considering we all thought she was dying, she's made tremendous progress! Thanks to everyone who has donated so far x

7 years agoTilly is now off oxygen, peed and pooed, respiratory is good, ate lots yesterday and full breakfast today, will see how she is today off oxygen and if she does well without the oxygen tent then she'll be moved into a normal ward ready to be sent home!! The vet bill is likely to be huge, so any help is still desperately needed. If you can help even just a wee bit then we'd really appreciate it! Thank you x
